Bonifacio and itsregion

Whatever the season, Bonifacio openly reveals all its charms. We love its narrow streets, bustling in summer and so peaceful in winter. We find ourselves captivated by its history and its modern life. We enjoy the nearby beaches with their irresistibly Corsican names: Palombaggia, Santa Giulia, Rondinara, Sant'Amanza. Yes, Bonifacio is a city that lives, breathes, sings and dances!

Discover Bonifacio

The hilltopcity

The countless images of its houses built on the edge of cliffs speak for themselves: Bonifacio is a city in which to take to the heights. A city to be visited? Certainly. But above all, a city to be felt. You breathe it in and listen to it. You sense its vibrations. First of all, those of the upper town, made up of a maze of narrow streets and charming shops. You sense its history. You capture its aura. And then the harbour. Right down at the bottom, narrowing into a channel and offering a glimpse of the capricious Mediterranean. The harbour where restaurants, cafés and ice-cream parlours stand side by side. The harbour and its lullaby of clinking masts and water lapping against the hulls of boats.

Discover the history of Corse du Sud

In the heart of a historiccity

Bonifacio is a heritage site. Houses perched precariously on limestone cliffs. Dizzying staircases carved directly into the rock, attributed to the King of Aragon. Churches and ramparts. In the distance, on the other side of the Strait of Bonifacio, the island of Sardinia comes into view. With it, other stories and other myths emerge: the shipwreck of La Sémillante, the Barbary pirate raids. A whole host of adventures to be relived in our minds, lying on one of the beaches that line the road to Porto-Vecchio. Bonifacio is, without a doubt, not just an extraordinary city. It is a chapter in the history of Corsica, embodying the originality and extravagance that characterise these lands. It is … Bonifacio.

The labels and certification of an exceptional city

A city oflabels

Bonifacio collects labels. Not out of frivolity nor snobbery. It collects labels by nature, out of a sense of commitment: Ville d'Art et d'Histoire (City of Art and History), Site et Cité Remarquable (Remarkable Site and City), Ville Active et Sportive (Active and Sporty City), Blue Flag, Clean Harbor. These certifications demonstrate the city's commitment to sharing its identity and raising awareness among residents and visitors of its extraordinary heritage and pleasant living environment. Even beyond the ramparts, the city seeks to preserve its landscapes and the life they sustain: one designated natural site and four others classified under the Act of 2 May 1930, six Natura 2000 sites, and inclusion in the Grand Site de France scheme. Because here, in this part of Corse du Sud, we know the value of life.

Bonifacio, a bridge to Sardinia

On the other side,Sardinia

On the other side of the Strait of Bonifacio, Sardinia comes into view. And with it, emerge other stories, other myths and other traditions. Other beaches and other sites too. In a single day, these sites open up to you. A day that also takes on a different character. Charter a yacht, on which you'll embark from just below our private mansion: our butler will take you directly to the port of Bonifacio , from which you'll sail towards a private marina in Sardinia. Or you can even head their by air, thanks to a helicopter transfer. This way, you'll fly over the Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo, the La Maddalena archipelago or the Gulf of Orosei. Once there, treat yourself to a round of golf at the Pevero Golf Club or lunch at a chic beach bar like Phi Beach! Only then will you understand the bond that unites Corsica and Sardinia.
